It Didn't Snow, didn't snow, didn't snow

When you live in the Upstate South Carolina area, any mention of "frozen precipitation" is enough to send the local population into a tizzy. Yesterday the weather forecasters were all about some snow (80% chance they said), which thrilled me to pieces because of the chance of cozying up to the fire on a weekday because of no work. I kept telling everyone at work to "just pray hard for snow" because I honestly felt like God could take some time out to sprinkle a couple of handfuls of the white stuff down and get me out of work for a day.
My husband, who was up till the wee hours doing Spanish homework, got into bed around 12:30 and whispered that it was snowing. Which, amazingly, woke me up out of a deep slumber so I could peer out the windows, much like I did at the age of 5. Sure enough, there was some snow on the ground. Unfortunately for me, that lulled me into a false sense of security that YES I would be able to sleep in and YES the roads would be much to perilous for me to drive my SUV (no, it doesn't have 4 wheel drive, not that I would know what to do with that particular feature) into work bright and early.
Sadly, when our alarm went off at the ungodly hour of 5:55 am, the first thing I heard was something along the lines of "clear conditions in the Greenville area." Disbelieving this obviously ill-eduacated woman, I again went outside to look. Yes, there was maybe a millimeter of some sort of dusting on our deck, but that was about it. And there were cars zooming by on our road, letting me know that my SUV would surely make the journey to work.
It was a disappointing morning. Good thing I didn't go buy more bread and milk.
