My work friends are the greatest. Now, please don't confuse these women with family (can't escape from) or regular friends (you choose them) because work friends are a strange hybrid of these two - you can't escape from them because you see them more than anyone and you don't necessarily choose them...they choose you.
I am lucky because Frick 'n Frack (as they are known affectionately around the office) chose me to be a part of their club. They are sure that people secretly hate them because they love to have fun, laugh, and talk, but we have come to the conclusion that people are just jealous because of their zest for life.
Frick 'n Frack (also known as Leslie and Julie) are both just a few years older than me and are married with childen under the age of 4. So they like to give me lots of advice. For instance, when I got engaged, they told me not to go through with it. Just kidding. But their stories about their kids, which make me laugh, have been a better form of birth control than any you can buy, even though their kids are fabulous. And we all talk about our husbands together, our houses, our clothes...we really do talk a lot at work. And we talk outside of work at Girl's Night, which occurs once a month and involves wine, food, and gossip.
Anyway, I believe that Frick 'n Frack are wonderful, talented women who have made my work days happy and bright. They always provide a listening ear, sound advice, or witty repitoire that makes the days just fly right on by!
*The top picture was taken at our company's annual Christmas party this year. This picture preceded Leslie and her husband's excellent and on key rendition of David Allen Coe's classic, "You Don't Have To Call Me Darlin'" for all the partygoers, including our vice-president of operations. Love it.
