Facial For Two

I haven't written in a while, probably because there hasn't been a whole lot to write about in my world. It seems like it's been all work and no play for the Butler family, but thank goodness for Valentine's Day weekend (and our 1 year engagement anniversary on Friday) - hopefully we will have some time to kick back and relax.

Well, yesterday, one of the gals I blogstalk, Big Mama, did a beauty edition, much like her infamous Fashion Fridays that I'm so fond of. She listed her current beauty products of choice at the moment, including Castor Oil and Olive Oil. No, not kidding. These two products were listed, together, for BEAUTY. Because she is a genius, Big Mama also provided a link for girls like me who have only heard these oils used in conversations about healthier cooking or constipation. Well, surprisingly, they can do wonders for your skin! I am all about taking people's advice when it comes to beauty products. I mean, who hasn't been in an Ulta, CVS, or Macy's for that matter and just felt completely overwhelmed by the vastness of the beauty world? So after I read about the miracle treatments in these oils, I took myself down to the local Target and purchased some Castor oil. Of course, I told Chad all about the fun we were going to have when he got home, because he is my guinea pig. :)

So we had facials last night, complete with my silly husband doing everything he could to make me laugh by acting 100% effeminate. BUT I do have to say that both of us enjoyed the oils immensely and can I just get an Amen for a man that will sometimes do girly things? Now, I don't want him invading my brow plucking, pore studying, or nail doin' time, but it's fun to be pretty together. Even though he is definitely handsome and not pretty.

And since it's a beauty product kind of week for me, I am including some of my favorite products from the past, as well as some products I'm super excited to try:

1. Proactive - I started using this stuff when I was 16 and continued using it until I was 24. I'm seriously thinking of going back to it because nothing else has made my skin so pretty and clean.

2. Philosophy's Purity Made Simple - The best makeup remover ever, hands down. This stuff gets your face squeaky clean but it can be drying.

3. Eminence Rosehip Moisturizer - My all time favorite moisturizer. It's very expensive, but you can't beat it and it will last you up to 5 months.

4. Essie Nail Polish - I used to be an OPI fan, but I have switched to Essie in the past few months.

5. PurMinerals Makeup - I have bought into the mineral makeup craze and PurMinerals is my personal favorite. I love their makeup and bronzer!

6. Nars Blusher in Orgasm - This blusher looks good no matter what the season and even though it's pricey, it lasts quite a while.

7. Neutrogena Body Scrub - Neutrogena discontinued the salicylic acid body scrub with the gritty particles, but it is back! They also have it with grapefruit and it smells like heaven. Seriously.

8. Sally Hansen Nail Oil - I can't afford to go and get my nails done all the time, so I fake it. I use nail oil a couple of times a week to keep my cuticles soft and manageable and my nails looking not so scary.

I'm really excited to try:

1. Blinc's Kiss Me Mascara - I have yet to find a mascara I love.
2. Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion Kit - I bought this today so guess what I'm doing when I get home?
3. Aquafresh Teeth Whitening Trays - I am obsessed with my teeth so I am looking forward to using this new product that my dental hygienist recommended!

First of all, I am a Philosophy girl... so Amen on the Purity. Second, please post the link to this BIG MAMA you speak of, and C, if you have not tried Covergirls LashBlast (orange tube) Mascara, you must. I also like the EyeLights that poor beatdown Rihanna advertises. NOW, they have made a LASHBLAST LUXE, where they have combine those two... which is my new love. Have patients, but once you learn how to apply it the way you feel comfortable, You Will Be Addicted :)
