Miss Poochie.

Yesterday's post was on how much I loved dogs and how that movie made me cry and yada yada. Obviously God read the post, too, because He tested me big time yesterday starting with...

8:00pm - arrive home from work and Jazzercise. Greeted at the door by my furry friends and a terrifically horrid odor. Oh good. Lucy pooed again. Obviously her tummy was upset because there was a lot. A. LOT. And by that I mean that I had to spend fifteen minutes gagging and trying not to breathe because I had to clean it up.

8:20pm - finish with doo duty to find that my wonderful husband had left the vaccuum attachments out and their new shape is, well, chewed. Why a dog gets a kick out of eating hard plastic, I will never know.

8:45pm - settle in to watch Twilight and eat Progresso soup and wait for husband to get home. Enjoying time to myself!

9:45pm - come out of the bathroom (yes, I just wrote that) to find Lucy puking plastic (imagine that) in our kitchen and Chad yelling at the door to help him, help him! I run to the door and look out. And there, on our porch with my husband, is the saddest, most pathetic looking mongrel I've ever seen.

She was the saddest looking dog with her big eyes and her ribs sticking out. Oh good. Of course I went outside and loved her to pieces. Chad said that he found her wandering around at the four way stop near our house and, because he has the tenderest heart I've ever known, picked her up and brought her home. Because we have so much room, and a fenced yard, and lots of money to pay for more vet bills. Chad was so concerned about her staying the night and since our dogs live inside and we don't have a dog house, he got his sleeping basket and rigged up the most redneck looking "dog tent" ever on our back porch. I'm sure our neighbors think that we're insane. Miss Poochie seemed perfectly happy after she ate two bowls of kibble and settled in under her makeshift home. I wondered if she would stay the night...

This morning I came out and there Miss Poochie was, under her tent. She came out to greet me and was set to ride off into the sunset with me until I told her to stay. Which, amazingly, she did. Our dogs definitely don't act as well behaved as she does!

I'm not quite sure what we're going to do with her. I do know that my God watches out for every single sparrow, so I know that Miss Poochie is in His sights, too. Please say a little prayer that we can find a home or a no kill shelter willing to take her in. She is a pit bull mix and, unfortunately, that breed gets a bad rap, even if the dog is good. In the mean time, we will do what we can and love on her and feed her and take care of her. Every dog deserves a little love.
