Okay ya'll, so I was really up and at 'em this whole weekend. Got our taxes done (thanks to my MIL), got Chad some new clothes so he no longer looks homeless (the man will WEAR OUT a pair of jeans, I tell ya), went visiting, returned books to the library, cheated on my diet (several times, including once with some Great American Cookie Company booty), and went to see Friday the 13th. Yup, went to see a really really gory, scary movie on Valentine's Day. Ain't love grand?
Before I get into all the reasons why you shouldn't take yourself or your loved ones to see said movie, I have to give my husband a shout out for his great Valentine's Day gift - a pair of A-dorable capri pajamas from The Cats PJs. Seriously, these are my new favorite pajamas ever and I am planning my next purchase (from the outlet link of course). I just love pajamas!!! He also got me a sweet as pie card because he is the best husband ever!
Back to the movie. It was my idea to go see it, which is strange because I usually don't even watch scary movie previews because they freak me out so much. Remember that movie last year, The Strangers? Yeah, I knew what the theme music or whatever was because I had those previews turned off before anyone else even realized what was coming on the screen. But this weekend, I had it in my mind to be scared to death, so we went to go see the latest installment of the "Jason" series with my SIL and her fiance.
Ya'll. This movie was just dirty. Not only were irresponsible college kids killed in just the worst ways, but it showed very unfamily friendly bedroom scenes, had awful language, and the kids were just disrespectful all the way around. Yes, Jason was just as crazy as ever and had some very creative ways to murder the unsuspecting kids, but I just couldn't watch. I almost walked out of the theater several times because I was so offended by what was being portrayed on the screen. And there were definitely some underagers in the theater, including a little boy who may have been at the most 4 years old, sitting on his daddy's lap watching the horror unfold. That's quality time with your kids.
Now, of course I was one of the underagers back in the day wanting to see the newest scary movie! My, how times have changed. I guess I am just getting old because I can't stomach it anymore. I found myself completely involved in how these parents were going to feel when they had to identify their child's body. Yes, I know it's a movie, but people lose their loved ones every day in awful ways. Why is it being glorified by our culture? And why did I pay $20 to see it on the most romantic day of the year (at least according to Hallmark's calendar).
Anyway, don't go see it unless you want to hear language that would make your mama wash your mouth out even though you didn't say it in the first place!
