Mulch, Crappy Movies, and Pete's - Oh My!

Well, ya'll, it was a completely uneventful weekend for the Butler's. We had Chadee this weekend and I picked her up bright and early on Saturday morning because Chad, BIL, and Chad's friend, David, were all over at my parents' mulching. For money of course. And Lord knows, since I am still on the brink of insanity because of our dead dryer, we NEED the money! And I know I'm going to get on a tangent here, but ya'll, SOMETHING has got to happen with the dryer situation. I feel like my whole life is off kilter because our laundry is not 100% done. Which is strange because piled up laundry has never bothered me before...

Chadee and I rarely hang out without Chad there (he is a committed daddy), so Saturday morning I took her by Starbucks (she thinks it's the greatest - as do I) and got her a decaf white chocolate mocha latte. I figured that the sugar would act in place of the caffeine to have her jumping off the walls. We also got cheese danishes - also off the charts in sugar content (and fat and carbs and genuine greatness) - and I felt like I was well on my way to becoming step-mother of the year. I mean, come on. I take 9 year olds to Starbucks. I am cool. And we I asked her about her boy situation and tried to be "on her level." I am a dork. I thought my SD would be bored out of her mind with hanging out at my parents house, but she had a great time. I think she elected herself Queen of the Mulch Pile and amused herself with asking the guys questions all day. I amused myself with talking to my mom about plastic surgery and drinking numerous glasses of wine. Which was all fine and dandy until I was on my next to last glass and Chadee stated asking me questions about Jesus. Which I felt like (after the smoothness of the sauvignon blanc) I could answer with all kinds of wonderful insightfulness. And then I told her to go ask her Uncle Matt. HE said the same thing I SAID. So there.

After a power nap at the house (I worked hard), we headed over to SIL & BIL's for a cook out and movie. The movie of choice was Yes Man and of course they didn't have any copies for rent at the video store so I bought SIL her very own copy. Happy Wedding! The girls watched Hannah Montana. Jim Carrey just isn't as funny as he used to be. He does have rubber band face, which is awesome, but other than that, the movie was just wierd and didn't make much sense. I was happy when it was over.

Sunday brought rain and Hardee's biscuits. So much for my diet. I was not feeling so hot so I hung out in bed with a copy of Philippa Gregory's The Boelyn Inheritance while Chad and Chadee bonded. I also napped. And dreamed that Chad and I were in England. When I woke up, I had obviously burned off those biscuits during my tour of England (ha) and we ordered Pete's. Can I just tell you that I love a cheeseburger plate with half and half? I mean, ya'll. There is NOTHING better. I feel that their onion rings aren't as high quality as they used to be, but they were still all kinds of delish.

I think that we all had a good weekend. Boring, but good. How was yours?

Yes, she is 9 and will be 10 in December. We see her every other weekend - thankfully she has a great mother and step-father. It is a challenge to be so young and have be a role model...my husband is only 27 and I am 25. I love that you take yours to Starbucks, too - she only gets decaf but I think she feels like a grown up! I feel like a posh step-mom taking her there! :)
