Back to Civilization...

Oh the view!
Oh, oh the fun we had! Four days with no tv, no telephone, no internet...no, we did not drop off the face of the earth, but we did drive down to Fairplay, SC, right on the Georgia line to spend Fourth of July at the lake house, like I did every 4th of July up until I reached my 20's.

We came, we saw, we tubed, we got absolutely blistered...and those four days were so good that we're going to do it again this coming weekend. I thought I'd be driven crazy by cutting myself off from the rest of the world, but being able to focus on my family was such a blessing. We watched fireworks from the pontoon, sang songs with my grandpa (and I learned that he had once been in a barbershop quartette...um...what?), and watched as my baby sister begin to realize the joys of the lake, including the ever present fire ant which seemed to terrorize all of our toes.

I drank Bartles & James with my SIL and discovered that Bud Lite Lime is quite delicious, but it also causes a slight case of indigestion, at least in my case. It was wonderful. Family is wonderful.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July...oh, P.S. I DID NOT get to eat boiled peanuts going down the lake. Leonard's Quik Stop is under new management and they obviously do not understand the importance and significance of the boiled peanut to me because theirs was just awful. That was the only bad thing. Promise. :)
